+ The first viewpoint (South) is the most spectacular, although the path requires some caution and you will probably have to endure some scratches from plants on your legs. + The second point is easily accessible and offers views of the Enseada de Santa Mariña, among others. + A third path descends very steeply at the end towards Praia da Ribeira de Santa Mariña. With a taut rope, you can climb down and back up.

Well, both paths continue along the English Way to Santiago, but the mills route, although it takes a bit longer (just a bit longer), is prettier and therefore the one I recommend. You'll pass by an old mill with a tidal dam that used to operate it, and you'll skirt the sea (and it's also the oldest path). Don't hesitate and use the mills route 😜

Together with the Castelo de San Felipe, on the opposite bank, they guarded the entrance to the Ferrol Estuary.

The gravel bike trails around A Capela tend to be on the more challenging side. For instance, routes like the Punta de Santa Mariña – View of O Segaño Beach loop from Pontedeume and the Frouxeira Lagoon – Cabanas Beach loop from Narón are rated as 'difficult' due to their length and elevation gain. There is also a 'moderate' option, the Frouxeira Lagoon – Frouxeira Observation Tower loop from Santa Icía, which offers a slightly less demanding ride.
Yes, all the featured no-traffic gravel bike routes around A Capela are designed as circular loops. This makes planning your ride and return to your starting point straightforward. Examples include the Redes Village – Ría de Ferrol loop from Santa Icía and the Pena Molexa loop from O Alto do Castiñeiro.
The routes often pass by significant natural and historical sites. You might encounter the stunning Belelle River Waterfall or the Belelle Waterfall. The area is also home to the Parque Natural das Fragas do Eume, a beautiful forest, and historical sites like the Monastery of Saint John of Caaveiro.
Given that most routes are rated 'difficult' or 'moderate' with significant distances and elevation, they might be more suitable for experienced riders. However, the 'moderate' Frouxeira Lagoon – Frouxeira Observation Tower loop from Santa Icía could be an option for families with older, more capable children, offering a shorter distance and less climbing.

The Frouxeira Lagoon – Frouxeira Observation Tower loop from Santa Icía also implies excellent observation points over the lagoon.
The duration varies significantly based on the route's length and your pace. The longer 'difficult' routes, such as the Frouxeira Lagoon – Cabanas Beach loop from Narón (nearly 70 km), can take over 5 hours to complete. Shorter routes, like the 'moderate' Frouxeira Lagoon – Frouxeira Observation Tower loop from Santa Icía (around 43 km), might take 3-4 hours.
Absolutely. Beyond natural beauty, the region boasts several historical sites. You can visit the impressive Monastery of Saint John of Caaveiro, the Monastery of San Martiño de Xuvia, or the Parish Church of St James in Pontedeume. The historic Pontedeume Bridge is also a notable landmark.
While specific parking information for each trail start isn't detailed, many routes begin from towns or villages like Pontedeume, Narón, or Santa Icía, where parking facilities are generally available.
