Attention. On April 8, the Albacete-Alcaraz greenway was closed due to highway construction in Balazote. A metal fence completely blocks the road, and I couldn't continue because no one could tell me how many kilometers of the stretch were closed to traffic.

Near Casas de Lázaro is this crossroads. There is a small stream here that can be good for cooling off if it's hot.

The no-traffic gravel trails in Pozuelo feature diverse terrain, including gravel tracks, rural roads, and some paved segments. You'll encounter varied landscapes, from natural parks to areas around river basins, providing a mix of surfaces suitable for gravel biking.
The routes currently highlighted, such as the Castilico de Alcaraz Tunnel – Tunnels loop from Balazote, are rated as difficult due to their length and elevation gain. While they are traffic-free, they might be more suitable for experienced riders rather than young families. For easier, shorter options, exploring local parks or greenways might be a better starting point.
While the trails themselves are traffic-free, regulations regarding dogs can vary in natural areas and regional parks. It's always best to check specific rules for areas like the Southeast Regional Park or the middle course of the Guadarrama River, especially concerning leash requirements and protected wildlife zones, before heading out with your dog.
Along these routes, you can experience the natural beauty of the region. For instance, the Rest area – Masegoso River Viaduct loop from San Pedro passes by the impressive Masegoso River Viaduct. The broader Pozuelo area also offers access to natural settings like the Campillo Lagoon, a protected wetland with significant biodiversity, and trails within the middle course of the Guadarrama River.
