Beautiful bridge, but why does someone take so many pictures of it, while there is already a highlight of this bridge?

Great cafe/bar. The tapas are delicious (especially the mussels) and the price is low. Great view of the mountains.

on this part of the Via Verde the views are wider than in the northern part.

I advise that on the days that are indicated, it has to be if you go by vehicle, because in summer it is very hot in this area and you have a river, even if it is not powerful, it can cool off. If you do it on foot or by bicycle, you have to bring plenty of water, because if it has been a very dry year we have the problem here. I did it on foot with my Belgian shepherd dog named RISTOK for 5 days. May this be a tribute to the R.I.P. You were a great friend and colleague.

The old railway lines have been converted into greenways for cyclists. From Horta St Joan via Bot towards the sea there is a beautiful stretch where you drive past fantastic views. Bring a lamp for the dark and sometimes long tunnels!

There are over 15 dedicated no-traffic gravel bike trails around Bot, offering a variety of distances and challenges for cyclists looking to explore the region's unique landscapes away from cars.
The area around Bot is renowned for its 'Vías Verdes' (Greenways), which are former railway lines converted into traffic-free paths. These routes, like sections of the Via Verde Zafan Torre de Comte and Via Verde de la Terra Alta, offer smooth, well-maintained surfaces perfect for gravel biking, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty without vehicle interference.
Yes, many of the gravel routes around Bot are designed as loops, allowing you to start and finish in the same location. For example, the Horta de Sant Joan – Via Verde Zafan Torre de Comte loop from Horta de Sant Joan offers a substantial circular ride, as does the Bot – Bot Station Bar (Railbus) loop from Caseres.
The trails often pass through diverse landscapes and near historical sites. You can discover natural monuments like Fontcalda, or even spot a Ferrassó Waterfall. Many routes also offer views of significant peaks such as Punta de l'Aigua (1098 m).
While many routes in the area are rated as 'difficult' due to their length and elevation, the Vías Verdes sections themselves are generally flat and well-suited for families. For a shorter, more manageable ride, consider exploring a segment of the Via Verde de la Terra Alta, which offers a safe, car-free environment. Always check the full route details for elevation and distance before heading out with children.
Generally, dogs are welcome on the Vías Verdes and other public trails around Bot, provided they are kept on a leash and you clean up after them. It's always a good idea to check specific local regulations or signage at trailheads, especially in protected natural areas, to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
Spring (April-May) and Autumn (September-October) are generally considered the best times for gravel biking in Bot. The weather is typically mild, and the natural scenery is at its most vibrant. Summers can be hot, so early morning or late afternoon rides are recommended if visiting during July and August. Winters are usually mild, making year-round riding possible, though some trails might be damp after rain.
Yes, routes that follow the Vías Verdes often pass through or near small towns and former station buildings that have been converted into cafes or restaurants. The Via Verde de la Terra Alta – Bot Station Bar (Railbus) loop from Antiga Estació de Prat de Comte, for instance, explicitly mentions a 'Bot Station Bar', indicating a potential refreshment stop along the way.
The komoot community highly rates the gravel biking experience around Bot, with an average score of 4.5 stars. Reviewers frequently praise the tranquility of the Vías Verdes, the stunning natural scenery, and the joy of riding on car-free paths. The well-preserved railway infrastructure, including tunnels and bridges, also adds a unique historical dimension to the rides.
While the Vías Verdes are popular, exploring the less-traveled sections or connecting them with local farm tracks can reveal hidden gems. The Bridge Over the Algars River – Via Verde Zafan Torre de Comte loop from Arens de Lledó / Arenys de Lledó offers a slightly different starting point and perspective on the region's beauty, potentially leading to quieter stretches.
