Sadly, this place is now closed in Thornbury. Not sure if moved somewhere else.

On the first Sunday of the month in the Village Hall, there's plenty of cakes and hot drinks. In the morning it's set aside for cyclists, with racks for bikes.

Berkeley Castle is located very closely to Dr. Jenner's Museum and St. Mary the Virgin Church in Berkeley. Very lovely place to visit with an adult ticket at the cost of £16 per person.

Of the five or six climbs that take you over the top of the cotswolds from this side, I think this is the easiest. A combination of convenience from Bristol, quietness and the lack of gradients over 10% make it the most accessible for sure. The B road this joins onto is far busier but is probably an easier climb overall.

The castle is open from March until October Sunday to Wednesday. It is closed on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for private events.
