August 25, 2024, New Road Gravel Path

With a rustic touch of ancient road :)

This is a pleasant, quiet off-road axis to leave the busy road out of Ely. From there, the riding surface starts off with grass but transitions to gravel. There are some nice views of Ely Cathedral on the horizon along the way.

Nice byway through fen fields. Liable to get muddy in wet weather and can be rutted from tractors but good for MTB and gravel rides in spring / summer.

The western end is marked as a footpath but it is a bridleway so it's fine to cycle on it

A gravel track between Witchford and Pools Road, dodges the fast-moving cars on Grunty Fen Road.
