Can be done on skinner or road tires if it has been dry for a few days. Will be bumpy from horses breaking up the unpaved surface

Now part of Milton Keynes' modern sprawl, Loughton was once a standalone village dating back to medieval times. All Saints Church is the oldest remaining building, thought to have originated in the early 13th century. There are plenty of other clues that Loughton has been here for much longer than Milton Keynes, such as some lovely thatched cottages and ancient earthworks. The village is on the Swan's Way, a long-distance bridleway that's popular with both walkers and horse riders. The Ride High Equestrian Centre is a well-established, local facility.

Whaddon is a small village just outside Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. It is at the heart of the ancient Whaddon Chase, a former royal hunting ground, now a designated area of Special Landscape Interest. The village has an interesting history. Nearby are the earthworks of a former Benedictine priory, Snelshall Priory. Whaddon Hall served as Section VIII of the MI6 during the Second World War, a branch of Bletchley Park’s operations. There are a number of paths and bridleways to explore in the countryside surrounding the village. Afterwards, the New Lowndes Arms is a good place to refuel. Its Sunday roasts have an excellent reputation.

This is a glorious mix of woods and parkland on the edge of Milton Keynes. A network of tarmac and bark chip paths allow you to explore the ash, oak and hazel woodland. In spring, wildflowers abound, with bluebells, wood anemones, primroses, early purple orchids and common spotted orchids.
