A rather lung busting effort to get up here but the rewards are enormous, the view over Burnham on Sea and Brent Knoll are awesome, well worth a trip.

Managed by Avon Wildlife Trust - Purn Hill is part of the western Mendip Hills, and has panoramic views across the Somerset Levels to the Blackdowns and Quantocks. Purn Hill is home to three plants that are nationally rare or threatened. These are honewort, Somerset hair-grass and white rock rose, which is only found at two sites in the UK - Brean Down being the other one. Ladies bedstraw, dropwort, pale flax, yellow-wort and carline thistle are also found here. Purn Hill is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and much of the grassland on its slopes is of national importance, found only on a few other sites on the south facing slopes of the Mendip Hills

Cloudy morning in the photos but in the sunshine this is a beautiful spot to stop for a bit. Few gates to avoid tho, might mess up the flow of a fast paced ride.

Dating back to 1080, this partially ruined Grade-II listed church occupies a spectacular clifftop position. Lying above Uphill, views from here span Bristol Channel, Brean Down and the mouth of the River Axe. While the nave no longer has a roof, the 19th century saw some renovation and part of the church is sometimes used for services.
