I reiterate the various opinions that the path on the Cattolica del Conca side should be restored and made functional like the other stretch of Portoverde.

Canyon formed by the Conca River. A species of bird (bee-eaters?) nests on the vertical walls, digging holes to use as nesting boxes.

I went out days after the rain, up there the water was still flowing along the path and the mud was wasted, but I also passed through there with the dry and compact ground, certainly a beautiful experience. To reach Onferno is not easy, you have to take the path that leads to the cemetery of Pian di Castello, up there there are cultivated lands and the path seems to vanish, but there are reference points: weather vanes, a small cell of the Madonna, a gate. If you have found everything, come down you are on the right road.

You'll navigate rolling hills, picturesque valleys like the Conca Valley, and agricultural lands with vineyards and olive groves, often with stunning panoramic views.
While many routes in the region involve significant elevation, there is at least one moderate option suitable for those looking for a less strenuous ride. The Conca Cycle Route – Eco Via Nature Trail loop from Morciano di Romagna is a moderate trail that follows the Conca River, offering a more accessible experience.
Many routes pass by or near historical sites. You might encounter the medieval Tavoleto Castle, or charming villages like Saludecio and Mondaino, known for their well-preserved old town centers. These offer fascinating stops to delve into the region's past.
Absolutely. The Tavoleto area is rich in natural beauty. Routes often provide breathtaking panoramic views, sometimes extending all the way to the sea from higher elevations. The Conca Valley itself is a prominent natural feature, and you might even pass highlights like the Conca River cycle path or various small waterfalls such as the Marano Waterfalls.
Spring (April-May) and Autumn (September-October) are generally the best times. The weather is pleasant, and the natural scenery is vibrant. These seasons also tend to have fewer tourists compared to the peak summer months, contributing to a more tranquil, no-traffic experience on the trails.
Parking is typically available in the villages that serve as starting points for these routes. For example, you can often find parking in Tavoleto itself, or in nearby towns like Monte Grimano Terme or Morciano di Romagna, depending on your chosen trail. Always check local signage for specific parking regulations.
Public transport options in rural areas like Tavoleto can be limited, especially for carrying bikes. While some regional buses might allow bikes, it's not always guaranteed or convenient. It's advisable to check with local transport providers directly for their bike policies and schedules if you plan to rely on public transport.
Yes, many of the gravel routes in the Tavoleto area are designed as loops, allowing you to start and end in the same location. For instance, the Monte Grimano Terme to Montecerignone Loop and the Urbino – Cesane Park loop from Cavallino 5 are excellent examples of circular routes that minimize traffic exposure.
The region offers a variety of accommodation options, from agriturismi (farm stays) and B&Bs to small hotels, many of which are accustomed to hosting cyclists. Look for places that offer secure bike storage and potentially early breakfasts or packed lunches to support your riding schedule.

You'll find options like the Conca Cycle Route which is moderate, alongside more challenging routes such as the Monte Grimano Terme to Montecerignone Loop, which features significant elevation changes and is rated difficult.
