Beautifully situated on the mountainside, this route offers magnificent views of Lake Como. Even without the view, the route is beautiful: a small, well-paved (June 2025) mountain road with a moderate climb, beautiful switchbacks, and little traffic.

After Cusino, the route descends without any further climbs to Carlazzo, where a magnificent series of elegantly curved switchbacks is a wonderfully smooth ride. The road surface is excellent (06/2025).

Always check the route details for elevation and distance before heading out.
The trails often lead to spectacular views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and the nearby lakes. You might encounter the captivating Valley of the Mills, with its lush forests and ancient stone mill ruins. The hamlet of Muronico offers beautiful views overlooking the valley. For specific highlights, consider exploring areas near Madonna del Ghisallo Summit and Cyclists' Monument or the dramatic Nesso Gorge, though these might require a slight detour from the immediate Dizzasco trails.
While specific regulations for dogs on these gravel bike trails are not detailed, the Dizzasco area is generally outdoor-friendly. Many natural areas, like the Valley of the Mills, are suitable for dogs. It's always best to keep your dog on a leash, especially in areas with wildlife or other trail users, and to carry water for them. Be mindful that some routes may involve challenging terrain or longer distances.
Yes, several of the recommended routes are circular, allowing you to start and end at the same point. While the routes themselves focus on natural, traffic-free paths, many start or pass near villages like Porlezza or Bene Lario, where you can find cafes, restaurants, and shops. Given the challenging nature of the trails and the varied terrain, it's essential to be well-prepared. Bring a gravel-specific bike in good condition, a helmet, appropriate cycling attire, and plenty of water and snacks. A repair kit, spare tube, and pump are crucial. Due to the potential for remote sections, a fully charged phone with offline maps (like komoot) is highly recommended for navigation and safety.
The duration varies significantly based on the route's length, elevation, and your fitness level.
