The Smidse (national monument) with its engine room and boiler house from 1911 functioned as a power plant for the textile factory. In the 1960s, the steam boilers fell out of use and were later dismantled. After that it became the home of the local harmony. In 2011, the building was renovated with a subsidy from the province of Overijssel. Today it is used for exhibitions and performances.
