Tinghulen (Toteisloch) Tinghulen is one of the largest non-water-filled dead ice holes (30-35 meters deep) in Mols Bjerge. Here, a large ice block covered with sand and gravel remained after the ice retreated. It took several thousand years for this block of dead ice to melt. Through this process, the ice created this fascinating dead ice hole. Today, Tinghulen is a well-visited excursion destination. In ancient times, Tinghulen was also a place of judgment for three communities whose borders met here.

#mitHund: in very warm temperatures, the tour in this region of Mols Bjerge is worthwhile because you can walk a lot in partial shade. It is recommended to choose the way there via the Kildeslugten gorge, and to scramble uphill on the way back from the hollow.

Tinghulen is a captivating natural hollow that served as an ancient assembly place. This unique geological formation is likely a kettle hole left by the Ice Age, and is thought to have functioned like a natural amphitheater, allowing voices to carry effectively. Nestled within the moraine landscape this is thought to be where medieval local councils once gathered to discuss vital community affairs and administer justice. While not a climb itself, Tinghulen is a compelling point of interest and apt for inclusion on the "Mountain Stage" of the Mols Bjerge Trail.
