An ancient oak tree, now fallen. A gust of wind on the night of February 26, 2008, brought down this ancient oak tree (250 to 300 years old). Le Quesne à Leu remains, like a recumbent statue, a witness to the forest's history. It was at its feet that the last wolves in the forest were supposedly killed and that judgments with executions were rendered.

In the time of Louis-Philippe there was an ice house covered with a barrel vault designed to receive ice from Norway by boat. The ships went up the canalized Bresle to the port of Eu. This cooler made it possible to store and cool the castle's food and drinks and to prepare sorbets. The king's grandson, the Count of Paris, added a second. This former royal residence has hosted the kings and queens of France and England. It was built in the 16th century by Henri de Lorraine, third Duke of Guise, and renovated in the 17th century by the Grande Mademoiselle, cousin of Louis XIV. It became the property of Louis-Philippe, the last king of France, who twice hosted Queen Victoria there. You can walk around the castle from the station, and visit the museum there.

The story of the victorious conquest of England by William (Duke of Normandy) in 1066 (where he became king) is recorded in a very expressive depiction on a richly illustrated carpet. This "Tapisserie de Bayeux" - which has been preserved to this day and is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its importance - is on display in a museum there and can be found here as a komoot hiking highlight: => https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/256142
