Beautiful Nature Reserve to explore while hiking the coastal path. Be aware of the Adders (snakes) though. I didn't see one, but the locals I spoke to confirmed that they're there.

A charming small church, although to view its front, you'll need to return to the main road. During construction in 1995, evidence of an earlier church dating back to the late Saxon or Saxo-Norman era was uncovered.

Covering over 130 hectares, Hockley Woods are the largest remaining area of the wild wood, which covered Essex after the Ice Age 10,000 years ago. A mixture of woodland paths and trails give a varied terrain to run. Lots of wildlife, a mixture of trees and a new car park. (Small parking charge applies)

Managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust, Two Tree Island sits on the Thames Estuary. It is popular for birdwatching and 3.5km circular walk round the island is possible direct from Leigh-on-Sea. In the past it has been a sewage treatment works and a landfill site and is now a beautiful area of reclaimed saltmarsh.
