The tanneries are located on the island between the Große Blau and the Kleine Blau rivers. In the Middle Ages, the tanners built their houses with the backs directly against the Blau so that they could rinse the raw animal hides in the current and treat them with an acidic solution.

The Lochmühle is one of the oldest mills in Ulm. The historic building was first mentioned in documents in 1346 at the confluence of the Blau with the Danube. In 1977, the historically significant building became the restaurant "Zur Lochmühle". The large mill wheel was installed in its original location and is today the unmistakable landmark of the restaurant directly on the Blau. Since 1987, the Schubert family has been running the cozy old town pub with the popular beer garden. In January 2024, Wilhelm Schubert jun. took over the restaurant and is now running it in the second generation. Source: https://www.lochmuehle.com/

Located in Ulm's Brautgasse, on the southeast side of the Minster, the Dolphin Fountain dates back to 1585. Spearing dolphins make the fountain very lively, and the water is fed through the fountain in high arches. A very beautiful fountain in the shadow of Ulm Minster.
