Welcome to the Exberghütte forest restaurant, the excursion destination for everyone! Enjoy your stay in our family-run forest restaurant in Großalmerode-Epterode on the Exbergsee, about 20 km from the BAB 7 - Kassel. The Exberghütte is owned by the Toby family alongside the Hotel zur Krone in Großalmerode. In the deep forest, high above the Epteröder Exbergsee, all day-trippers will find a wide range of fine food and drink as well as peace and relaxation. For over 30 years, the Exberg has been an oasis of peace and relaxation in the Werra-Meißner district of northern Hesse. Once used as a hut by children playing, it was taken over by the Toby family in 1994 and converted into a forest restaurant. The forest restaurant is located 506 m above sea level in the middle of a beautiful mixed forest above the Exberg lakes. In the clear, pure air, guests can relax, dine comfortably, go on long hikes or linger in the beer garden. There is a children's playground for the little ones.

The meeting area in Epterode is located directly on the road towards Epterode Dorf. There is a large parking lot where you can start hiking tours in all directions (Hohe Kopf, Exbergseen, Exberghütte, Hirschberg, Großalmerode,...) An information sign tells something about the history of the village "the crucible maker and smartass" 😀 There is also a barbecue hut for rent here: with barbecue, bread oven, toilet, covered space for around 30-40 people. There is a small playground in front of it
