Beautiful cycle path along the Rhine

St. Heribert Church in the Deutz district of Cologne was built between 1891 and 1896 in the Neo-Romanesque style. After suffering severe damage during World War II, it was rebuilt between 1949 and 1951 by the renowned church architect Rudolf Schwarz in a more modern, simplified form. It is well-known far beyond the district. Because of its imposing twin-towered facade on the banks of the Rhine, it is often affectionately called the "Deutz Cathedral" by locals.

The Rhine riverbank path is beautiful when it's not too crowded. It's best to avoid it on weekends, or at least travel it very early or very late. During high water, parts of it are impassable. In that case, you have to use the road above, which I don't recommend. So, it's a good idea to check beforehand whether the path is open.
