The reason for the erection of this memorial cross takes us back in time to the beginning of the 20th century. The founders of this small sacred monument, deliberately erected at this location—their intention is documented in the inscription on a brass plaque on the base of the wooden cross—wanted it to commemorate the widow Anna Gertrud Mommertz, who was murdered here on April 30, 1909.
