A great ridge to climb from Lanthwaite. Rising to Whiteside and then Hopegill Head. A return journey can be made via any of the North western routes to return into the Buttermere/Crummock valley

Possibly the most beautiful place in the UK. I once fell asleep on here and when I woke, had tears in my eyes. It might have been the liquid lunch at the Kirkstile Inn

Good facilities at the start of a hike, but can be very busy during peak season

This spot allows you to look lengthways down the lake with full views of the surrounding bells. If you continue around the western side the path can become a little boggy.

Busy in peak times, but for a reason. Has a few lovely cafes and a YHA which is open in peak season.
