The sculpture's concrete base contains a time capsule created by artist Pia Lanzinger in 2017. It replaces the 1960 time capsule that was lost when the horse sculpture was moved to its current location. https://www.sueddeutsche.de/muenchen/kunstprojekt-botschaften-an-die-zukunft-1.3715618

Ideal for rollerblading along there, the track was even re-tarred a few years ago!

The lake was created by the gravel excavation during the construction of the A 99 motorway and the stands of the regatta course from 1972. In high season, thousands of bathers come to the shores of the lake every day. In winter, there is little going on here except for a few dog walkers. A jog from the nearby regatta course will liven up your run a little. https://stadt.muenchen.de/service/info/regattaparksee/10313890/

As is often the case, the former moorland was almost completely destroyed by human hands over a period of more than 100 years. The construction of the regatta course more or less destroyed the last peat remnants and the remaining water level. At the persistent insistence of the Karlsfeld conservationist Josef Koller, who died in 2010, and his book "Beloved Schwarzhölzl", the remaining area was declared a nature reserve in 1994, 25 years after Mr. Koller first submitted the application.
