Today's excursion takes us to Lübben for a boat trip. From the train station, we walk a bit through the town and reach the Paul-Gerhardt-Gymnasium. The ferryman is already waiting for us opposite. We start on the Berste, the boat is already ready, we have planned the trip for a longer time and booked a whole boat with Jörg. Almost bright blue the sky, kayakers greet us from the water. We take our seats and set off. Already after the first few meters, the landscape and atmosphere literally transport us to another world, and we cast aside the thoughts of the big city and everyday life. Beautiful yellow water lilies next to us, blue dragonflies buzz all around. We move across the water only by the strength of the ferryman, and more and more kayaks line up behind us. https://youtu.be/mcYpOlU0F3s

We pass the next lock, turn around, and now look at the bridge where we stood almost a year ago and the idea for this trip developed. The reason was a sad one. At the next bridge, we have to duck our heads. We reach the castle island, dock, there are regional delicacies here. The ice cream melts faster than we can eat it, we get a bucket of pickled cucumbers from Gurken Paule. We continue the trip, lean back and enjoy the pickled cucumbers. https://youtu.be/mcYpOlU0F3s

As desolate as the market square is otherwise, the unusual plane trees create a special atmosphere and are the real eye-catcher! Because their crowns have been trimmed into umbrellas. I've never seen anything like it before. So they certainly won't grow into the large trees that plane trees normally form, for example in the Märkisches Viertel in Berlin, there on the main axis, the Wilhelmsruher Damm (worth seeing).

The cafe and restaurant is close to the pier in a slightly elevated position and offers a great view of the hustle and bustle, if it is high season.

It celebrated its 100th anniversary at this site in 2014. An extension was inaugurated in 2001, providing 11 classrooms, a small library, four preparation rooms, and a cafeteria.
