The building is in the style of a Finnish hut and one of the few church buildings during the GDR era. The chapel in Glowe is also called St. Birgitta Church. Until the 1980s, the pastor of Bobbin provided spiritual care for the former fishing village. When the small town developed into a popular seaside resort due to the beautiful beaches of the Schaabe, the call for its own church became louder. In 1981/82, a community center with a free-standing bell tower was built in the style of Finnish huts with a natural roof. This created a building that blends wonderfully into the landscape. A small Jehmlich organ has been in the chapel since 1988. The special feature: the church hall with a glazed west wall.
