The historic stables are located in the heart of Winsen's old town... ...The half-timbered house was built around 1600. Horses and carriages were once stabled here. Today, the building houses the local history museum, the tourist information office, and the city library. The museum presents fascinating facts about the history and culture of the town of Winsen (Luhe) and the Winsen Elbe Marshes. Readings and concerts are held in the quaint hall. winsener-elbmarsch.de

MUSEUM IN THE MARSTALL The two-story half-timbered building erected under Duchess Dorothea in 1599 presents itself on four levels. Winsen's writers are presented on the ground floor. In addition, there are the areas of paper production with a model of the former Winsen paper factory in Eppen and a book printer with hot metal typesetting. The museum shop is also located on the ground floor. On the first floor, the city's history is presented with five workshops (tanners, blue dyers, bakers, shoemakers, saddlers). The life of the writer Johann Peter Eckermann, who was born in Winsen, and his works also find their place here. On the second floor there are constantly changing special exhibitions with art or cultural history themes. The Marstall in Winsen (Luhe) The third floor ultimately represents the Elbmarsh culture with costumes, embroidery and inlaid furniture, as well as pre- and early history. The city archeology can also be found on this floor. The museum is easily accessible for wheelchair users. https://www.winsen.de/portal/seiten/museum-im-marstall-2000058-20260.html
