The Handrup Church is located in Handrup Bakker near Ebeltoft Vig. It was built after the residents of the area wished for a church in the western part of the parish at the end of the 19th century. The church was consecrated in January 1902 and had 100 seats at its inauguration. The church's current altarpiece depicts Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. The painting is by Professor Kræsten Iversen and came to the church in 1972. It is a preliminary study for a glass mosaic in Risskov Church. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/handrup-kirche-gdk606147

June 26, 2026, Dråby Church

"Mols Cathedral" The first Dråby Church was built of monk stone and stood between 1200 and 1400. Masonry and old foundations were found during the restoration of the church between 1967 and 1971. From the beginning of the 14th century and over the following 150 years, the owners of the nearby estate, as well as the noble families Rosenkrantz and Gøye, created more or less the church we see today with major renovations and extensions. In 1720, the church interior was furnished with new furniture in the Baroque style. The crenellated stilt tower was built around the year 1730. On the west side of the tower are the year 1739 and the initials S A B and A R for Sophia Amalia Benzon and her husband Andreas Rosenpalm. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/draby-kirche-gdk1078953

June 22, 2026, Ebeltoft Church

Ebeltoft Church is first mentioned in 1458 and referred to as a chapel. However, during an archaeological investigation carried out in connection with the restoration in 1983, coins from the 13th century and foundation remains were found under the eastern part of the church, which show that it was built even before the town received its market town rights in 1301, there was a smaller church. Around the year 1500, the church was extended to the current nave with the addition of five vaults and the tower with crenellated gables. In the 16th century, the church had a women's door on the north and a men's door on the south. There was once a porch on the south side connected to the entrance. However, the porch was demolished at the end of the 18th century. In 2015, the church interior was restored, giving the church a different color scheme that makes the present-day church appear brighter, more harmonious and more striking. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/ebeltoft-kirche-gdk1078955

The Old Town Hall in Ebeltoft, dating from the 18th century, is an architectural gem and a historically interesting building. When visiting Ebeltoft, you shouldn't miss a look inside the wonderful old Town Hall in the middle of the old town of Ebeltoft. Here you can see the guardroom, the Molbostube, the Thingstube and the dungeon in the cellar. During a tour, the original furnishings give you the impression that time has stood still, so to speak. The Old Town Hall was built in 1789 and was in operation until 1840. From 1840 until its restoration in 1906-1909, it was used as a private residence. In addition, the town's guards and firefighters had a standby room in the building. The library of the Folkeforening also operated under the roof of the building for a time and was located in the old Thingstube. The Town Hall was designed by the well-known Danish architect Anders Kruse and built by the local master builder Just Møller. After the restoration in 1909, the Old Town Hall was taken over by the Ebeltoft Museum. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/das-alte-rathaus-in-ebeltoft-gdk1079039

June 22, 2026, Sculpture "Lodvig"

The sculpture „Lodvig“ is a worthwhile, humorous bronze figure in Ebeltoft. It is located directly in the historic old town on Adelgadetorvet in the pedestrian zone. The small statue shows a slender, almost bizarre-looking male figure with a bowler hat and walking stick, which often makes passers-by smile. Behind the figure lies a true "Amour fou" (mad love) from 1905, which became famous throughout Denmark. Lodvig was a young apprentice pharmacist in Ebeltoft at the beginning of the 20th century. He fell in love with Katrine, the maid of the strict town bailiff Selmer. When Lodvig one day secretly sneaked into her room, the two were caught by the town bailiff. The overzealous official had the couple arrested for "immoral behavior" and brought to trial. The trial ended with a four-day suspended prison sentence. The inhabitants of Ebeltoft found the punishment completely exaggerated and made the town bailiff a laughingstock. A mockery song and caricatures in national newspapers made the incident known throughout Denmark. You can perfectly visit the humorous figure during a walk through the cobblestone old town of Ebeltoft. https://www.dk-ferien.de/reisefuehrer/daenemark/mitte-ostsee/ebeltoft.html

The historic town center is like something out of a fairy tale. Here you can explore the narrow alleys, visit small shops, artisans, and galleries, or enjoy a coffee in one of the cozy cafes. One of the most iconic landmarks is the Old Town Hall, dating back to 1576, which now serves as a museum and a popular venue for romantic weddings. The town's maritime charm is complemented by Ebeltoft Harbor, where you can admire both yachts and traditional wooden ships. In the summer, life pulsates in the harbor. The old town of Ebeltoft is one of Denmark's most romantic historic quarters. The small, crooked half-timbered houses, the narrow cobblestone streets, and the many flowers in front of the doors create an almost fairytale-like atmosphere. A walk through the old town should always be included; relaxed, picturesque, and full of typical Danish "hygge". The proximity to the harbor, the regional cafés, and the many small shops make the old town a perfect place for anyone who loves authentic holiday experiences. The old town of Ebeltoft is one of the best-preserved historic districts in East Jutland. Many of the buildings date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and are still preserved in their original style today, including half-timbering, low doors, and colorful windows. Narrow, winding streets that snake through the town like a labyrinth colorful half-timbered houses with rose bushes and small gardens Cobblestones that emphasize the historic character, the proximity to sights such as the Old Town Hall or the Glass Museum. It is precisely this mixture of history and a lovingly maintained townscape that makes Ebeltoft one of Denmark's most beautiful places, ideal for gathering authentic impressions and capturing holiday moments. The old town is not only beautiful to look at but also a lively meeting point with small shops and cozy cafés. Many shops sell regional products, handicrafts, ceramics, or Danish delicacies, perfect for a small souvenir or a gift for loved ones at home.
