If you love long, straight stretches where you can really push the pace, the Eemmeerdijk is a must-ride. A top piece of tarmac for dedicated cyclists who aren’t afraid of a bit of wind. It’s the perfect place to put your watts to the test – ideal for time trial training or when you just want to hammer away without distractions. The surface is smooth and well-paved, with few cracks or potholes, and generally not too busy.

Closure of the Oudelandsdijkje cycle path The cycle path on the Oudelandsdijkje will be closed from 6 January 2025. This will be the case until the end of July due to the work for the dike improvement and cycle path improvement. The current cycle path will be widened from Oudelandsdijkje 3 in Purmerend to Molenpad 8 in Ilpendam (end of the cycle path) to 4.2 m wide and constructed in black asphalt. This means that the cycle and footpath meets the current standards and safety requirements. Markings on the black asphalt ensure the separation of both parts. The Oudelandsdijkje will be provided with a new asphalt layer and new markings from number 3 to the Purmerweg. The cycle path will not be widened on this section.
