April 3, 2026, Restaurant Ecluse

Anyone who wants to eat really well after a tour on Lake Biel or along the Schüss should definitely visit Ecluse, a zero-waste restaurant in a class of its own. In a lovingly converted compass factory directly on the Schüss promenade, the team serves an uncompromising terroir cuisine: Everything comes from a maximum radius of 50 kilometers, the peelings end up in the in-house compost, which in turn feeds the raised beds in the garden. The cycle literally closes on the plate. For lunch, there is a changing menu, and in the evening, a tasting menu with four to six courses including wine pairing – or à la carte. The menu changes constantly with the seasons. In summer, the large garden with barbecue stations and fire rings is a dream. Biel/Bienne train station The Swiss Central Railway (SCB) began operations on June 1, 1857. 1857 – 1877 Biel becomes a railway junction: 1st provisional train station from 1857 – 1864 at Zentralplatz. 2nd train station from 1864 – 1923 at General-Guisan-Platz. 3rd train station from 1923 at the current location. This means that Biel can finally become an industrial city. Text / Source: ATOR – Consulting, Reitschulstrasse 1, Biel/Bienne https://www.bieler-altstadt.ch/portfolio-item/industrielle-geschichte/
