Coming from Oberwilen, the road becomes increasingly narrow and is now just one lane wide. The bridge looks like it might need to be replaced after heavy mudslides...

Very beautiful section on the west side of the lake - between Oberwilen and meistteil the previously wide road becomes a narrow, single-lane, but well-paved path.

A very beautiful route without cars. Only the post office/public bus is allowed to travel here. A suitable gear is recommended, though. There are four or five fountains for refilling water up to Gr. Scheidegg – perfect.

The motto for the trip to Axalp is to reach new heights. From the shores of Lake Brienz at a good 560 meters, you'll battle your way through forests and alpine meadows to the village at 1,500 meters. Once you get there, the fun doesn't have to end there: A path closed to motorized traffic takes you up another 300 meters, until you turn around at Alp Chiemad.

Of the approximately 200 covered wooden bridges in Switzerland, the Hohe Brücke is unique as it is the highest in Europe. It towers 100 metres above the course of the Grosse Melchaa.

Very hard pass, but worth it! The landscapes are magical. Traffic is almost non-existent (the pass is closed to traffic).
