At Pas des Ladres, there are not only sublime views. You will be almost certain to observe many chamois. They are not shy, because living in a national park, they ignore hunting.

This beautiful high-altitude lake is one of the must-sees in the Mercantour National Park. It attracts people in the middle of summer. The setting is enchanting and we quickly understand why it is so popular. Swimming is allowed there. As long as you don't mind the icy water, of course.

The Boréon stopover lodge is located in the upper Vésubie valley, near a dam lake. It is wonderfully located on the GR 52 route that crosses the Mercantour National Park. This chalet is large, and offers dormitory beds as well as single rooms. It also offers catering. It is open all year round. Each season offers the possibility of practicing a multitude of activities in the surrounding area. This ranges from climbing to hiking to cross-country skiing or ski touring. There is a climbing wall near the lodge, as well as a reception chalet serving as a tourist office. The damage resulting from the Vésubie flood of October 2, 2020 is still visible on site. For more information see their website: www.giteduboreon.com Booking is highly recommended.
