A forested pass in the Owl Mountains at 711 meters above sea level. Beautiful forests, but no views. However, there is a great, well-maintained shelter; a perfect place to relax.

All the classics of Polish passes are here: a shelter, benches, tables and a parking lot, but this shelter: you could even sleep in it. The pass itself is at an altitude of 711 m above sea level, but it is forested, so you won't see many views.

Leśny Dworek is of course a beautiful house here on the street, which you can't miss. It is built in the Tyrolean style (which draws attention: it is not exactly Polish architecture...) for Friedrich Dierig. Who he was: I don't know :), but the house is listed on the register of historical monuments. In addition, it is an access point to the MTB Sudety zone and there are also shelters, benches and tables with this one strange chimney...

A vast clearing at an altitude of 805m, which is also a pass separating Kalenica and Popielak. Generally covered with forest, but you will find good views here. A good place to stop after a strenuous bike ride.

A wonderful view from Rymarz (and not far from Jugów): the panorama (including the view of Śnieżnik and many Czech mountains) is extraordinary. Add a bench with a table and all is well in the world.

The region offers a diverse range of gravel terrain. Yes, there are options suitable for families looking for less challenging rides. For a relatively easy experience with minimal elevation, consider the Lake Bielawskie – View of the Owl Mountains loop from Bielawa Zachodnia. This route is 11.2 km long with only 113 meters of elevation gain, making it a good choice for a relaxed outing.
For experienced gravel bikers seeking a challenge, the Owl Mountains provide demanding routes with significant elevation. A good example is the Jugowska Pass – View of Srebrna Góra loop from Bielawa Zachodnia. This difficult route spans over 51 km and features more than 1000 meters of ascent, offering a true test of endurance and skill.
Absolutely. Many routes in the area pass by stunning natural features and historical sites. The Owl Mountains themselves offer charming paths and peaks like Wielka Sowa with its observation tower. You might also encounter viewpoints like Koci Grzbiet or historical sites such as the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which provides panoramic views of Bielawa.
While specific public transport connections directly to trailheads for bikes can vary, Bielawa is accessible by public transport. From there, you can often reach the starting points of many routes, especially those originating from Bielawa Zachodnia or Bielawa Centralna, which are common starting points for tours like the Loop around the reservoir – Lake Bielawskie loop.
Generally, no specific permits are required for gravel biking on designated trails in the Lake Bielawskie region or within the Owl Mountains Landscape Park. However, it's always advisable to respect local regulations, stay on marked paths, and be mindful of protected areas.
The spring and autumn months typically offer the most pleasant conditions for gravel biking around Lake Bielawskie, with milder temperatures and beautiful scenery. Summer can also be enjoyable, but be prepared for potentially warmer weather. Winter riding is possible on quiet routes, but conditions can be challenging with snow and ice, especially in the higher elevations of the Owl Mountains.

While many outdoor areas in Poland are dog-friendly, it's important to keep your dog on a leash, especially in nature reserves or areas with wildlife. Always ensure your dog is well-behaved and doesn't disturb other trail users or local fauna. Check specific trail regulations if you plan to bring your dog, and ensure they are fit enough for the chosen route.
