There is a triangular column near Boubínská obory, which is called Cross Spruce. It stands on the spot where a 395-year-old spruce stood until 1895, under which Jungbauer's band of robbers allegedly met, and one of the robbers was fatally shot here by accident. In his memory, the robbers carved a cross into the trunk. The borders of the Včelná, Zátoň and Mlynářovice forests also met at this place.

The Boubín (German Kubany) is a 1362 m high mountain in the Czech Republic. It is located 14 kilometers west of Prachatice in the Bohemian Forest. Location and surroundings: The Boubín is the highest peak of the Bohemian Forest away from the main ridge. Together with the 1264 m high Bobík it forms a mighty massif that dominates the eastern Bohemian Forest foothills. The northern flank drains to the Volyňka and over the Cikánský potok to the Blanice, the southern flank to the Vltava. At the foot of the Boubín are the places Kubova Huť, Horní Vltavice, Buk pod Boubínem, Šumavské Hoštice and Záblatí. The Boubínský prales (Kubany Primeval Forest) reserve is located in the Boubín massif. It extends on the southern slope over an area of 666 hectares at an altitude of 940 to 1120 m. As early as 1858, the then chief forester Joseph John achieved that the so-called Jungfrauwald was placed under protection by Prince Johann Adolf II zu Schwarzenberg. This makes the Boubín Primeval Forest the third oldest nature reserve in the Czech Republic. Here you can find the best-preserved parts of the original mixed mountain forest in the Bohemian Forest, especially old spruce and fir stands with unusual growth characteristics. Some trees are 300 to 400 years old. The "Fichtenkönig" fell victim to a storm in 1970 at the age of 440; it was 57 m high and 5.08 m in circumference. One of the rare mushrooms in the Boubín primeval forest is the Bohemian forest lory (Pseudorhizina sphaerospora), which is only known from three locations in the Czech Republic. Starting from the small reservoir Boubínské jezirko (Cuban wave), a 3.8 km long nature trail leads around the fenced core area of the jungle. Observation tower: A lookout tower has been on the Boubíngipfel since spring 2005. The 21 meter high wooden tower can be climbed on 109 steps. The platform offers a wide view of the eastern Bohemian Forest. Source: Wikipedia

Absolutely! The Boubín Lookout Tower on Boubín Mountain offers unparalleled panoramic views of the Šumava region. While some routes to the tower can be challenging, there are family-friendly approaches. Another option is the Kaplický Potok Stream loop, which is also moderate and around 15.5 km.
