The Oberfeuer Somfletherwisch is a historic, 35-meter-high hexagonal steel lattice tower in the municipality of Jork in the district of Wisch. Since its commissioning in 1907, it has formed an important leading line for shipping on the Lower Elbe together with the Unterfeuer. Data at a glance Tower height, 35.4 meters. Light height, 32 meters. The range, up to 16 nautical miles approx. 30 km. The design, red - white striped steel lattice tower. The location, near Kleiner Strand on the Elbe riverbank. The tower is unmanned and remotely controlled. In 1991, the historic optics were replaced by modern precision searchlights. It serves as an orientation beacon for ships sailing upstream on the Elbe. As the superstructures on the Elbe became higher and higher over the years, a new, slightly more advanced Unterfeuer had to be erected in 2010 in order to continue to optimally utilize the leading line. A great destination for an excursion and a great cycling and hiking route runs along here.

The Lühe landing stage is always worth a visit; it's beautiful here, with ever-changing scenery and large ships to see. Ample parking is available, as well as numerous restaurants offering a variety of delicious options. There are plenty of seating areas and a children's playground, as well as parking for camper vans and motorcycles. Due to the risk of storm surges or flooding, the stalls at the Lühe landing stage are removed in late autumn. When flood warnings are issued, the floodgate is also closed, as was the case today following yesterday's weather warning.
