Theater and Hall of Music, La Chaux-de-Fonds Theater and Music Hall - The theater was built in 1836-37 (a good 12 years before the first hospital!) and was declared a monument of national importance. In 2003 it was completely restored. The Louis XV style room with theatrical masks makes it a real gem and a rarity. Next to Bellinzona, it is the only theater in Switzerland. The entrance hall shares the theater with the music hall built in 1952: behind the yellow sandstone facade is the concert hall with 1,000 seats, whose wood paneling ensures optimal acoustics - it is among the best in Europe. Viewing by prior reservation at the tourist office. The pumped-up water is brought 20 km far through an ingenious system of tunnels from springs in the Areuse Gorges (627m).
