The Wallpaper Museum in Mézières is an elegant late Baroque castle. He is one of the last born in the canton of Fribourg. It has existed since 2007 and was recently selected by Swiss heritage among the most beautiful history and knowledge museums in Switzerland. The castellan Frédéric-François-Victor de Diesbach, an officer in the service of France, transformed the castle, renewed the interior decor and the latest fashionable French wallpapers were installed. Very few sets of wallpapers from the end of the 18th century and from the beginning of the 19th century still in place have reached us. In this historical context, the museum also presents temporary exhibitions which focus on paper, historical and contemporary wallpapers as well as discussions on our contemporaneity.
