The Bärenplatz is located at an altitude of 717 meters on the Dörenberg. It is the highest elevation in the district of Kulmbach. Since May 2008, a massive bear, carved by forester Thomas Uwira, has stood there. Numerous other bear figures and plaques can also be found at the idyllic resting place. The Bärenplatz is a great destination, not just for children.

After moving to Marlesreuth, I fell in love with this place. Speaking of hearts—if you look at this place on a map, you can really see a heart. I use every free minute to cycle here. You hardly meet anyone here (with one exception). Unfortunately, you can't enjoy the view from the summit (unlike the approach from Brumberg), but the place with the bear has something mystical about it.

This place has a magical pull on me. Perhaps because it's shaped like a heart on the map. I often cycle here, simply to enjoy the silence, because except for that one time, I haven't encountered anyone here. It's the highest point in the Kulmich district, but unfortunately, you can't enjoy the view—at least not on the ride there. The climb is quite steep, so it's worth starting from Brumberg. The paths there are mostly well-maintained, but some have steep inclines—except for the last few meters before the finish.
