Ushguli (Ushguli) is a true gem of Georgia, located at the end of the world and certainly also of Europe! This complex of several small settlements is considered the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe. Even though it is actually in the Caucasus, i.e. on the border between Europe and Asia! Thanks to its unique character and accumulation of unusual Gothic towers, Ushguli has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996.

Under no circumstances should you take the path through the forest if it's been raining. It's a real slippery slope. The path was so steep and worn that we ended up sliding down it while sitting.

Still closed in May, but the terrace is accessible and a good place to take a break.

You can take a detour across the small pedestrian bridge and finish the tour from the back. You can see all the Wertturm towers, and it's a great view.

Very friendly family who were happy to take us in for the night and share everything with us. It’s worth the price that you have to pay up in the mountains outside of the touristic center.
