The market square is lined with only a few historic buildings, such as the Renaissance town hall, where the traces of the Baroque style from the 18th century have been removed in the latest restoration work. The Gothic parish church built in the 14th century was also given a Baroque exterior in the 18th century. On the arcaded house on the south side of the church, a plaque commemorates Juraj Slota (1819–1892, professor of Matica slovenská).

Trenčín's gravel trails offer diverse terrain, ranging from forest paths and field tracks to unpaved roads. You'll encounter rolling hills, river valleys, and segments within mountain ranges like the Považský Inovec and White Carpathians. While many routes are suitable for gravel bikes, some sections, especially on more difficult trails, may require pushing your bike due to steepness or technicality.
While many of the listed routes are moderate to difficult, some sections or shorter loops can be adapted for families. Look for routes that stick to the flatter Váh River valley or within the Brezina Forest Park for easier, more accessible rides. Always check the route's elevation gain and distance before heading out with children.
Many natural areas and trails in Trenčín are dog-friendly, provided your dog is well-behaved and kept on a leash, especially in protected areas or near wildlife. Always ensure you carry water for your pet and clean up after them. Specific regulations may apply in certain parks or reserves, so it's always good to check local signage.
The trails often pass by or offer views of significant landmarks. You can explore routes near the iconic Trenčín Castle, which provides stunning panoramas of the Váh River valley. The Skalka Pilgrimage Site, with its cave monastery, is another interesting stop. For natural beauty, keep an eye out for the dramatic rock formations of the Manínska Gorge or the lush forests of the Považský Inovec mountain range.

Public transport options for bikes vary. Trains in Slovakia often allow bikes, though there might be a small fee and specific carriages for bicycles. Buses are generally less accommodating for bikes, especially larger gravel bikes, unless they have dedicated racks. It's advisable to check with the specific public transport provider beforehand for their current bike policy and availability.
While many routes venture into natural, less populated areas, you can often find cafes or small shops in the villages or towns you pass through. For example, the Café Stop in Slovakia – Line 4 loop from District of Trenčín explicitly highlights a refreshment opportunity.
