The weir is connected to a hydroelectric power plant that generates green electricity. During the renovation, the weir's wooden elements were replaced with steel hydraulic gates.

Pögritzmühle The Pögritzmühle bears the name of the former settlement on the Saale. The mill was first mentioned in documents in 1156 as a confirmation of ownership by Margrave Konrad von Wettin for the monastery on the Petersberg. Today, the mill uses state-of-the-art hydroelectric systems to generate electricity. The water level of the Saale is regulated by means of a modern weir system. If you go upstream, you will pass the castle complex and come to the former Wettin mining office. The gable of the house is still decorated with a hammer and sledgehammer.

The rugged rocks and the landscape itself are very impressive. The Brachwitz Alps were formed by volcanic activity around 300 million years ago. The reddish volcanic rock is easy to recognize.
