St. Rochus Chapel in Kemmerich Preservation of the village church in Lindlar-Kemmerich, the birthplace of Hermann Haeck. "2021 - After the old heating system of the St. Rochus Chapel in Kemmerich irreparably failed at the beginning of the Corona pandemic in 2019, and services were subsequently not permitted in the small rubble stone building due to the pandemic, they can finally take place again: a modern heating system will be installed at the end of 2021. The financial resources for this were provided, among others, by the Hermann Haeck Foundation. The foundation's founder, Hermann Haeck, who was born in Kemmerich, would certainly have considered the renewal of the chapel's heating a matter close to his heart. The beautifully situated little church and its surroundings, lovingly maintained by numerous volunteers, have become a piece of home for many people from Kemmerich and the surrounding area. A beautiful chapel in the lovely landscape of the Bergisches Land. Unfortunately, the chapel door is locked. Saint Roch of Montpellier is considered the "plague saint" in the Bergisches Land. In the 17th century, the plague hit this region particularly hard. At that time, a total of four Rochus chapels were built in the municipality of Lindlar, one of them in 1668 in Lindlar-Kemmerich.
