Lyonel Charles Adrian Feininger (* July 17, 1871 in New York; † January 13, 1956 in the same place) also visited Niederzimmern. On his bicycle tours, the Weimar-based artist also captured the Wigberti Church in Niederzimmern on his sketch pad and then created a woodcut from it. The Weimarer Land district commemorates Feininger's work with several displays, including in Niederzimmer and Hopfgarten. http://www.niederzimmern.de/aktuell/2007_09_03.htm

This is not an observation tower, a transformer tower has been converted into an animal hotel.

The Hopfgarten dam near Weimar serves for flood protection and for increasing the low flow of the Gramme, a tributary of the Unstrut. The barrier structure is an earth dam 368 m long and 15 m high. It is also a bathing lake, there are beautiful secluded spots around the reservoir.

For me a rather unusual church with the pointed roof. Ancient graveyard all around.
