Was built at the same time as the 2023 cycle path, a cozy place to take a break right next to the Deutsche Bahn.

Now the last section is finally finished. It's a wonderful ride and also conveniently separated from the road. But the best part is that over the years, a well-developed connection between Jena and Weimar (Mellingen) has been created, separated from the road – that wasn't always the case.

Wasserburg chapel village Adelsburg - robber's nest - official residence It was pledged by impoverished lords of the castle, for the city of Erfurt it was an important part of its castle policy, for a robber baron it was a safe hiding place and the Saxons used it as a judiciary and rent office. The history of the moated castle of Kapellendorf is as exciting as it is changeable. In the 14th century, the castle got its shape with a ring wall, moat and medieval residential tower. Today, Kapellendorf is one of the best-preserved castles in Thuringia and houses a castle museum. Source: https://www.thueringerschloesser.de/objekt/wasserburg-kapellendorf/
