The cobbles have since been milled off (at least the track downhill, as of 04/2026). It rides much more pleasantly, similar to roughened terrazzo tiles 😆

St. Mary's Church is the central focal point in the heart of the village and is located directly on the "Thuringian Towns Chain" cycle path. It was portrayed by Lyonel Feininger. The present village church developed on the site of a small, early Gothic, almost square chancel tower church by the beginning of the 19th century. https://www.stiftung-kiba.de/kirchen/st-marien-troebsdorf

The Tröbsdorf war memorial was erected for the victims of the First World War. The memorial consists of a brick obelisk on a pedestal, flanked by cannonballs. The pedestal bears lists of the names of those who fell between 1914 and 1918, which were later supplemented by the names of local residents who died in the Second World War. The area has since been replanted. It was created in the 1920s. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kriegerdenkmal_(Tr%C3%B6bsdorf)

A tough cobblestone section, difficult not only because of the surface of the pavement but also because of the considerable incline. This section must be on the route between Weimar and Erfurt. It's nice to be through it, then the cycling becomes much easier again.

Many apple and plum trees flank the cycle path here, but the cobblestone passage in Hopfgarten is not without
