🌻 History meets yellow splendor: St. Petri Church Bornum This highlight is far more than just a beautiful photo spot by the wayside. The St. Petri Church is a real piece of history at the foot of the Elm. A look into the past Anyone who stops here stands before a church with a long tradition. While the current appearance is strongly shaped by the renovation in 1860, the origins of the community reach much further back. Particularly striking is the west tower, whose massive masonry is reminiscent of the defensibility of old village churches. Bornum itself was historically closely connected with the nearby Imperial Cathedral in Königslutter – you can literally feel the breath of the history of the Braunschweiger Land here.

nature so close... You rarely get as close to a stork's nest as in Achim. The nest is right on the road on the outskirts and the animals can be easily observed from there. The nest is regularly occupied and this is also where the birds breed. During the stork season, you can watch what's going on in the nest and cheer for the offspring as they try to fly. The ringing of the young animals is an important event with its own small festival every year. Stork representatives constantly look after the welfare of the animals and are happy to provide information about the rare birds that regularly return to the region.
