The foundation stone for the relatively large village church in Drachhausen was laid on August 6, 1894. After less than 17 months of construction, the new church was consecrated on December 20, 1895. The neo-Romanesque red brick masonry building was built on a cruciform plan. The single-nave nave and the transept are vaulted. The apse connects to the east side of the nave. The slender tower with a high pyramid-shaped helmet was inserted in the northwest corner between the long and the transept. The ringing of the tower consisted of three bronze bells from the Leipzig company Jauck from 1895. Two bells had to be delivered during the war and were supplemented in 1925 by two bronze bells from the Schilling company in Apolda.
