The Sorno Canal is the 1,250-meter-long, navigable connection between Lake Geierswalde and Lake Sedlitz. Its name refers to the town of Sorno, which had to make way for the former Sedlitz open-cast mine and thus, to a certain extent, also for today's Lake Sedlitz.

Thanks to good "connections" and a private tour, I went down there myself a few years ago (Jänschwalde opencast mine), rode a few meters on the F60, then stood at the coal layer. Simply gigantic. GDR technology from 1974, still working, unfortunately only the sun and wind generate the electricity now.
