The village church of Gutengermendorf is one of the oldest buildings in the Löwenberger Land region. It was built around 1250 during the founding period of the village, which stretches for one and a half kilometers along a linear village green, as part of the eastward expansion of German settlement. The unusually monumental Gothic fieldstone building served not only as a house of worship but also as a fortified church. The tower, visible from afar, was used as an observation and defensive post. Two checkerboard stones are incorporated into the tower. According to legend, they were used to ward off the devil and originate from Danish church buildings of that time. Inside, one finds a Baroque pulpit in the auricular style, the patron's pew from 1693, a medieval tabernacle, and restored sculptures. The three steel bells from the 1920s commemorate, among others, Pastor Theodor Hunsche, who supported the Confessing Church during the Nazi era. Since May 2023, the church has once again had a tower clock, which was financed by donations. . ... The church is open all day in spring and summer.

A few potholes in places, but much better than driving on the main road.
