Address: An der Bergbahn 1, 98744 Schwarzatal The Thuringian Railway, known until 2020 as the Oberweißbacher Bergbahn, is a railway line in the Thuringian Slate Mountains. Since 1922, it has connected the Obstfelderschmiede stop on the Schwarzatalbahn, which belongs to the town of Schwarzatal, with the municipality of Cursdorf. The line consists of a 1.351-kilometer-long broad-gauge funicular and a connecting 2.635-kilometer-long standard-gauge and electrified adhesion line. The latter is often referred to as a flat line to distinguish it from the cable car. Both sections of the line have been operational since January 1982 and are listed as monuments to the history of production and transport. The Oberweißbacher Bergbahn has been operated by DB RegioNetz Verkehrs GmbH Oberweißbacher Berg- und Schwarzatalbahn since 2002.
