On 23.09.2018, a storm uprooted thousands of trees in the lower Schwarzatal valley. This created a new view, including here in the Suppenschüssel area. (But by 2026 it will already be largely overgrown again.)

At that time – around the time of the transition from the 19th to the 20th century – there was lively interest in many places in Germany in honouring the Chancellor OTTO von BISMARCK (* 1815 to + 1898, the first Chancellor of the German Empire from 1871, previously Prime Minister of Prussia and Chancellor of the North German Confederation) with a monument. But only in very few cases was a statue made and erected of him as a person. Sometimes they were pyramid-like structures, but often – as here – real (observation) towers were built and named after Bismarck.
