Town hall or church? Both are correct: Before 1880, this building was indeed a church. With the construction of the new Peter and Paul Church next door, it continued to be used as the town hall. Today, it's called the Old Town Hall because there are numerous other administrative buildings in Bühl.

The Hotel am Großen Plättig opened in 1890 and was subsequently managed by the owner family. In 1986, the hotel became the property of the Max Grundig Foundation and was operated by major hotel groups. In January 2009, it was "temporarily" closed for renovations. In the meantime, the Plättig Hotel, as well as the Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe opposite, were acquired by a group of investors, first from Ukraine and then from Kazakhstan. In 2013 and 2014, around 50 workers from Lithuania lived here. As a fire safety measure, the massive steel staircase was placed in front of the listed facade. Since then, nothing has happened. Occasionally, the press reports that purchase offers for the Hotel am Plättig and the Bühlerhöhe are regularly rejected.
