The rapid appears relatively wide here. The weir makes it look a bit like a waterfall.

Marienburg Castle was built from 1858 for Queen Marie of Hanover and is one of the most impressive structures in the region. Until 2020, it was privately owned, then a transition to the current Marienburg Castle Foundation was pushed forward. Coupled with this was the urgently needed renovation of the castle after 160 years. The castle is being extensively renovated for 27 million euros, which is why it is currently not accessible to the public. If the construction work allows, individual parts will be opened. The renovation measures are expected to last until 2031. Impressions of the castle and news can be found here: https://www.stiftung-schloss-marienburg.de/

Here you have a wonderful view of the Leine. The Leine is a 280 km long, southern and orographically left tributary of the Aller, which also flows here in Alfeld.

An ancient church. The Romanesque tower dates back to the early 12th century, the Gothic nave to the 15th century. The surrounding area is also attractively designed. More at www.kirche-im-saaletal.wir-e.de

Update. In the 90° bend before the bridge towards Wettensen and in the area of the southern access road there is a lot of gravel on the road.
