Beautiful (cycling) path directly along the Main-Danube Canal. Well suited for getting quickly from A to B (in this case from Altendorf to Hirschaid or vice versa).

The memorial stone on the Wiesent [Station 14] The memory of the Jewish community is to be kept alive by a stele, erected in November 1982 on the Wiesent. The sandstone column was created by the Bamberg sculptor Hermann Leitherer (1919-1991). The German inscription is poorly formulated: “With reverence and gratitude, the city remembers the achievements and suffering of its Jewish fellow citizens.” The Hebrew inscription comes from the Book of Psalms. Since 1956, the request to erect a memorial stone to remember the life and suffering of the Jews of Forchheim had been repeatedly made to the city administration. Jews with Forchheim roots also advocated for this. In 1966, Wilhelm Kleemann, the son of the Jewish teacher and cantor Michael Löb Kleemann, received the Ring of Honor of the city of Forchheim. The ceremonial speakers announced their intention to ensure a worthy commemoration of the Jewish community. Since the synagogue property served as a parking lot, the diagonally opposite location on the Wiesent was chosen. [ Source: https://www.juedischer-pfad.de/de/station/14 ]

The Aisch weir, with its beautiful old half-timbered buildings, is an ideal place to relax for a few minutes and watch the anglers on the rushing Aisch River.
