The Hexenturm, like the Bürgerturm, is part of the medieval town fortifications. After the town fortifications / town wall lost their importance, both towers were used as prisons. The Hexenturm stands not far from the Untertor - one of the former town gates -.

Located directly on the Fulda River – above the town on the Fulda Cycle Path and about a 10- to 15-minute walk from the town center – is the campsite. Until 1959, this site featured a "beach bathing area" where one could swim directly in the Fulda under the supervision of a lifeguard. The current campsite building, which now houses the sanitary facilities (toilets and showers), a restaurant, and the administration offices, was built in 1931. Directly opposite the campsite is the festival grounds, where the "Heimat- und Strandfest" (Local Heritage and Beach Festival) takes place annually on the first weekend in July. There is a spacious landing stage for boaters and canoeists. https://campingplatz-rof.de/ https://rotenburg-erleben.de/heimat-und-strandfest-jaehrlich-jedes-erste-juli-wochenende/
